INVITATION

to our online event organized by Equaliser Foundation and the Norwegian Embassy in Budapest on the topic of

Balancing Family and Career: Man & Woman Together
Perspectives from Hungary and the Nordics

Building a career, being a leader is independent from gender, it is a universal human capability, yet we mainly associate men with these notions. Working in the household, taking care of the children and actively participating in the family life is also independent from gender, it is a universal human capability, yet traditionally women are connected with these roles. Implicit bias and stereotypical expectations not only reduce the chances of women to build a career but also negatively affect men’s ability to fully enjoy their family roles. Stereotypes can deprive children of building a trusting and positive relationship with both parents.

We believe in a balanced relationship where both parties enable the other to achieve their goals, to have a meaningful family life and a purposeful career. Our invited guests will be sharing their own stories showcasing how gender equality shaped their family, what they gained in their lives as a parent and as an active, working person. Thanks to the support of the Nordic Council of Ministers, we can also peek into the family friendly practices in Finland and Norway, hoping this will inspire many of us to learn from them.

Date: 7 October, 2021. 5 p.m.

The language of the event is English and Hungarian with simultaneous interpretation. Expected length 70 minutes.
