Equaliser Hard Tals and Networking

We would like to invite you to one of the last events of the year, where after the Hard Talks discussion we will start our year-end Equaliser Networking event in a special venue.

Equaliser Hard Talks events were launched in 2020 with the aim of providing a platform to discuss social issues that many of us care about, but which are still little discussed or taboo.

On 30 November 2021, the Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest will host the Hard Talks event, where we will again explore a difficult topic, menopause.

Approximately 1 million working women are in menopause in Hungary. Are their employers prepared to deal or help them through this often very difficult time?
Menopause comes at some point in every woman’s life. It mostly affects women aged 45 to 55, often when they are at the peak of their careers.
Our event will focus on menopause in the workplace.

Discussion participants:

  • Orsi Iványi, menopause expert and activist, member of the Hungarian Menopause Society, founder of the Living for Women over 40 community
  • Nóra Hevesi, Director of Communications at Tesco, implementer of the first Hungarian workplace menopause programmeModerator: Edina Heal, founder and leader of the Equaliser Foundation

Our aim is to initiate a social dialogue and to raise awareness of the importance of raising awareness in the workplace, taking care of the workforce concerned and addressing potential problems in a considered way. With the help of Nóra and Orsi, you can learn about workplace programmes that have already been put into practice, so you can build more inclusive companies.

Date:           30.11.2021 (Tuesday), 5:30 pm – 9 pm
Location:    Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest (1052 Budapest, Petőfi Sándor u. 2-4)

The menopause is one of the most complex periods in a woman’s life, and although it is not a disease but an inevitable natural hormonal change, many women experience unpleasant physical and mental symptoms. With more than 30 symptoms, from hot flushes to headaches and from memory loss to muscle aches, menopause can last up to eight years.

Three out of five women say it has a negative impact on their performance and employers don’t really know how to support them, as most women are afraid of being stigmatised if they disclose their condition. Laying down a menopause policy for the workplace is therefore essential in the near future, because menopause is not just a women’s issue, it is a workplace health issue.

Programme:
5:30 pm – Arrival
6:00 pm – Welcome | Edina Heal
Panel discussion
7:00 pm – Equaliser Networking  (inc. tour of the Hotel)
9:00 pm – End of the event

After the panel discussion, we will have the opportunity to take a special tour in Parisi Udvar Hotel in small groups to learn about this very special building and its history.

We hope to be able to hold our event at the end of the month, as usual, in accordance with the rules and with a personal presence. We will keep you informed of any changes in this regard and will inform you if any restrictions are placed on the organisation of the event.

Participation in the event is free of charge for Equaliser Members, but registration is required.
